A variation of backgammon, played with Icehouse pieces.

You need:

2 stashes of stackable Icehouse pieces
2 dice
2 players
3 small objects (such as coins, stones, extra dice, Icehouse pieces of a third color, little wrapped candies, etc.)
an imaginary gameboard featuring a 5x5 grid of 1 inch squares (or you can use a Volcano board

Martian Backgammon is designed for the Icehouse game system, and is the Icehouse answer to roll-and move race games. Like its namesake, Martian Backgammon is an abstract strategy game with a significant luck component. Two players compete to be the first to get their pieces off of superimposed U-shaped tracks, while capturing enemy pieces and evading capture themselves. It is quick to learn, and is enjoyed by players of varying ages and skill levels.
