The Games

CrodaCroda
Designer: Ljuban Dedic Croda was invented by the Croation mathematics professor and Draughts master Ljuban Dedic in order to create a draughts game with a smaller margin of draws. In issue 9 of Abstract Games Magazine (spring 2002) I [Christiaan Freeling] already argued its obvious superiority to Draughts. Anyone but a Draughts player can see that. Object: If a player has no legal move he loses the game. This may come about either by being eliminated or being blocked completely. Each player takes turns moving either his men (which can only move straight forward or diagonally forward one space) or his kings (which move like rooks from Chess). Pieces capure by jumping, as in Draughts, but can only capture orthagonally. |
