Cetacean Ascension Moonbase 8 is a sub-surface tunnel claiming, giant hamster management game for three, four, or six hyperintelligent psychic whales.

That's right. You're playing a hyperintelligent psychic whale in a lake below the surface of the northern pole of the moon. You're in charge of a hutch of genetically engineered giant hamsters. The hamsters are there to dig and flood tunnels for you so you can grow lots of krill. As you eat krill you grow larger and larger until you have a good shot at successfully harnessing the psychic energy that's accumulated at the lunar pole to bootstrap your ascension to become a being of pure thought. You have to be careful, though. If you don't feed your hamsters, they'll revolt and go feral. As the band of giant feral mutant hamsters grows larger and larger, it just makes problems for everyone.

...What?

Oh, you think that this month's game is a little... weird? Well, that'd be because this was a 'gamestormed' game. I ran a little game brainstorming session at ProtoCon 8 on September 15, 2006. This is what game out of it. (If you want to know more about that, read the Origin and Credits section of the CAM 8 rules.)

Cetacean Ascension Moonbase 8 uses a bunch of custom components (board, initiative cards, etc.) that you can download from us. You'll need to provide tokens, pawns, dice, paper, and pencils. A four-player game hypothetically takes 60 minutes to play. Cetacean Ascension Moonbase 8 is appropriate for ages 12 and older.
