These files comprise the pre-release, beta-test version of my design, 18US: a substantial 18xx game set in the Lower 48. Although with only two (oversize) map panels, 18US may appear to be a simple game, this is deceptive: it is a complex game with a substantial number of alterations to the 'customary' 18xx rules.

18US is not for inexperienced players: it is designed to challenge those players who feel that they have mastered most of the existing games. I estimate 18US to be as complex or more than 1844 (Switzerland), and definitely more so than any of my previous designs.

In some ways, 18US resembles 18EU, with the logic of 18EU taken to a pathological extreme.

Before you play the game, I urgently recommend that all players--but especially experienced ones--read the Executive Summary: this should provide a sufficient 'feel' for the game that you will get off on the right foot, without overwhelming you with detail.

I repeat, read the Executive Summary. READ THE EXECUTIVE SUMMARY. What I tell you three times is true.

If you download and play the game, I would appreciate a feedback. This can be in any form you like: a game report, a set of questions, comments, whatever. In particular, please identify any rules issues you found.
